Teen-Led Places in Public Spaces, This Summer!
Today's teens face converging crises. Teen mental health is plummeting while summer heat soars.
From substances to sports gambling, screens to social media, there’s never been more teens ought to “say no to.”
SHADE guides teen changemakers to create public teen-led places they can “say yes to.”
Teen teams can electrify⚡️ public property for heat, health, and community — today. This summer will be our 3rd time, but we are still learning. Help us as we pilot the teen program✊🏽, the events🏀, and the kit🛠️ to drop SHADE everywhere.
Vision & Mission
“SHADE was born out of our shared experience working together [on RECESS] in M.S.Y.E.P.* We saw firsthand how few safe public spaces existed for teens—especially those from marginalized backgrounds—to gather and be themselves without pressure or surveillance. That Fall, we brainstormed, planned, and launched SHADE in Donnelly Field as embracing teen space.”
